Light of Light - UMC Sibiu (Romania)

On November 23, 2014, the second urban United Methodist Church in Romania was established in the beautiful city of Sibiu.

The new church took the name Light of Light from the Creed carefully crafted in Nicea during the First Ecumenical Council in 325 AD.

The worship service was led by superintendent Daniel Topalski and pastor Cristian Istrate. Rev. Allen Carmichael from the USA and pastor Rares Calugar from Way of Faith UMC in Cluj were also present.

In his sermon Rev. Daniel Topalski spoke about the importance of the names concentrating on the message that the name Light of Light will communicate to the people in Sibiu and beyond. He underlined also the demanding character of that name that can be lived out only through participation in the life of the True Light - living out of the darkness and shadows, being light to this world.

Eight members were accepted who participated afterwards in the Holy Communion with all the guests and friends who came to celebrate the official establishment of the new church.
