Bishop Dr. Streiff entered upon office

Today, Dr. Patrick Streiff (Biel/Switzerland) entered upon office as the new Bishop of the United Methodist Church in the Central Conference of Central and Southern Europe. Succeeding Bishop Heinrich Bolleter he is now leading and supervising the United Methodist Church in Albania, Algeria, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia-Montenegro, the Slovak Republic, Switzerland and Tunisia consisting of about 36 000 people.

Ecumenical guests and representatives of the Government of the Canton of Zurich attended the official celebration in Zurich. They acknowledged the service of the United Methodist Church in the society and gratefully recognized the leadership of retiring Bishop Heinrich Bolleter since 1989 which was always concerned about cooperation and which was significant far beyond the own Church.
